Be it any music lover from any part of the country, the Dover Lane Music Conference has been the Mecca for many. A music program that was started on a sudden impulse in one of the by-lanes near Gariahat, Kolkata, has grown to become one of the most prestigious and revered music events in the country. A quick glance at its history would reveal that there is no dearth in the names of Indian Classical Music maestros, when it comes to Dover Lane.

This year, the inauguration took place on 22nd January amidst the Shehnai session of Hassan Haider Khan, son of Ali Ahmed Khan, and the vocal presentation of Pandit Jasraj. Yes, this year, after a 15-year hiatus when the performances ran throughout the night, the event was inaugurated in the morning. However the rest of the program was scheduled in the evening as usual.

The Conference had a number of maestros like Ayaan Ali Khan, Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Rashid Khan, Amaan Ali Khan, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ajay Chakraborty and many more musicians with Amjad Ali Khan’s Sarod bringing an end to the magical event. Five new musicians, Hassan Haider Khan, Nirmalya Dey, Sudha Raghunathan, Apoorva Amit Gokhale and Anjana Nath also debuted at this prestigious musical event. Sisirkana Dhar Chaudhury was the proud receiver of the Sangeet Samman Award 2017.

For the music buffs in Kolkata this is a much awaited conference and this year too this conference lived up to its mark.
