‘A Vacation means to ‘Vacate’ Oneself’.

Our last trip was all about exploring and knowing new places, but that was again quite stressful. Preparing the itinerary, doing some research about the place and then, the traveling from one part of the city to another just to tick away the names from the list, can be quite a hectic job and can leave you even more tired. But vacations are meant to be relaxing, so when our Pattaya trip was planned, we decided on one priority ‘must do’, i.e. ‘to relax’.

Most of our Pattaya trip included me sprawling on the beach, with my favorite novels and enjoying the sun with a chilled mocktail in hand. Yes, that is my idea of a perfect vacation. Occasionally I was out on Food-ventures, since I am an avid foodie and what is a vacation without some amazing local cuisine.

Pattaya is a city that will offer you the best options for entertainment and food. If you are a foodie like me, Pattaya will offer you the best and the most delectable food from the amazingly mouthwatering Tom Yum Soup, Som Tam Cabbage Salad, to the famous Pad Thai noodles (more frequently served and eaten at street stalls) which accompany the  Gaeng Kiaw Wan (Thai Green Curry), Gaeng Daeng (the Red Curry) or Massaman Curries. While noodle dishes are quite common in Thailand, most Thai dishes are stir-fried or grilled and served with rice.  Fish, pork, beef, and chicken are typically stir-fried with various spices, such as garlic, chili and basil.  Fish and chicken are frequently grilled or fried, fish typically cooked and served whole. The creamy curries, spicy stir fries and other classic dishes combine the hot, sour, sweet and salty flavors are something special for the taste buds!

One distinctive aspect of Thai food is the use of fresh herbs and spices as well as the inclusion of fermented fish sauce in nearly every dish. Someday when I am asked to look back at my Pattaya vacation, I will end up remembering the wonderful dining experiences in the city.  But of course I can’t go on talking merely about the food, because Pattaya has many more facets. If you are fond of night life, then Pattaya will offer you the best nightclubs to dance away all your stress.

But as for me, I am more of a laid-back sort of a person, who would prefer to read away her stress, and most of my time I spent in the Jomtien Beach, the most popular destination even for the locals. This beach will offer you amazing sea food and drinks and you can just lie down on the beach beds and spend a good time with your favorite novel or enjoy the view of the beautiful beach with its brimming livelihood.

Apart from the lazing around, I did make sure that I visited the Coral Island and do not, by any means, miss the famous Alcazar show. A speedboat ride, (which felt very adventurous) took us to the beautiful island which is surrounded by crystal blue sea. The choices of activities are wide and splendid, from underwater walking to parasailing, fishing, banana boat tours or diving, but I preferred to enjoy nature instead, walking on the ground. After having our sea food lunch on the island, we came back to the mainland and the evening was reserved for the famous Alcazar show.

True, I have heard about this show a lot, and when the trip was planned, only one place was noted down on our must see list. When the show started, I could understand why this show is so popular and considered as a must-see thing in Pattaya. The beauty, grandeur and the amalgamation of the Thai culture is something you would surely enjoy as you sit back and relax in the theatre. The Alcazar Cabaret Show in Pattaya City has all the allure and razzmatazz of a Las Vegas nightclub. Dazzling performances by artists in glittering evening gowns dance against a backdrop of surround-sound and computerized lighting. The unique feature of Alcazar's entertainment, that sets it aside from Las Vegas, is that all the show girls are actually boys!

To sum up for all the busy city couples looking for a quick break to recharge your souls – Thailand is a perfect destination. Not only Pattaya but other beach destinations such as like Phuket, Koh Samui, Hua Hin or Krabi could be perfect for a quick escape.
